Loving with All I am
Dear Mavis,
I do not love in passing sighs,
Nor lend my heart in measured ties.
I love the way the ocean moves,
Unending, deep, in quiet grooves.
I love with mornings in my chest,
With breath that fights and finds no rest
Unless it speaks your name aloud,
A prayer beneath a sky unclouded.
I love with all the years I've known,
With every scar my soul has grown.
Each joy, each ache has taught me this:
To hold you close is boundless bliss.
I do not love with just a glance,
But with my blood, my circumstance.
My laughter, fears, and quiet tears I shed.
You have them all, through all my years.
So if you ask what love I give,
I give you all: my life, my soul, my heart.
Love,
B
